There's a Kid in Your Garden!

School Beautification with Tassajara Valley 4H Club

Have you taken a good look at 4H lately?

Look at what our Gardening/Plant Science did on Saturday! We planted plants at the elementary school and added bark to all the planters. There was a boy scout troop who replaced wood benches (they were just going to paint them, but that was futile), too.

This is one of my favorite projects to lead in 4H and I think the group has enjoyed what we've learned. There's been a lot of plant science projects like soda bottle planters and soap-making with plants inside. We've also made our own aloe vera lotion with our own aloe plants, created plantable cards (seeds embedded in the paper) and learned some fascinating worm facts as we put together our own worm composting bins.

At the March meeting everybody planted their own veggie and flower seeds. Look for us at the Alameda County fair this summer with our miniature gardens.
